Swim Meet: Nigel

Swim Meet is a conversation series with members of our Crew – the community of local guides and water safety experts who are integral to creating our network of cross-country swimming routes throughout the UK and beyond.

In this edition, we meet Nigel Jenkins, host of our RuckRaft Retreats in Devon.

Atten-shun!

Introducing Nigel Jenkins, host of our RuckRaft Retreat in Devon and all-round man of action. A former British Army Commando and Military Physical Training Instructor, Nigel has been running in the hills and valleys of Dartmoor and swimming the nearby coast and estuaries for over 35 years – so it's safe to say he knows the area better than most.

Starting the day with a coffee and his OS Maps, Nigel loves planning adventures. His extensive knowledge of the area allows Nigel to design the best routes, whatever the weather or tide conditions. There's not a sea cave, blow-hole, nook or cranny he doesn't know about. Good humored, relaxed and well-organized (as you'd expect from ex-military).

Nigel's route, 'Operation Devon', takes in some beautiful coastal hikes and swims in one of his favorite local spots (and there's always room for a pint or two on the way).
