Sean swims Snowdon

Back in 2015, endurance adventurer Sean Conway was a big part of inspiring us to make the RuckRaft. He did the world’s longest triathlon around the UK and in doing so had to cobble together his homemade ‘Rafty McRaftface’ to swim with his stuff (see below).

As we watched Sean’s epic struggle round the UK with this bit of fiberglass - we’d already started testing out our prototypes.

It’s been a long 7 years turning this into a reality. And you can see some of it in our story of making of the RuckRaft.

So it was a genuinely lovely moment for us to send Sean a RuckRaft and have him Swim Snowdon with us. A swim and hike we first had a look at in 2011.

This time round we stayed with friends at Capel Curig – Alice Douglas and her daughter Hero. If you want somewhere to stay in Snowdonia, get a group together and stay with them – you can’t go wrong.

We headed up Snowdon via the Llanberis path and then took the Watkins back down. A challenging route up and over Snowdon stopping for a swim across Llyn Padarn and Llyn Llydaw. We were only up there for a day but it’s amazing what you can pack in with a RuckRaft and a walking companion who thinks a triathlon is a swim, bike and run across the whole of the UK.

The full route is on our ‘routes’ section here.
